Sam Desiere studied Economics at Ghent University and obtained a PhD in Agricultural Economics from Ghent University in 2015. Between 2017 and 2020, he was a senior researcher at HIVA, University of Leuven, conducting policy-oriented research about the (Belgian) labour market and served as a consultant for the World Bank. In 2020, Sam joined Ghent University as a postdoctoral researcher.
Sam’s research interests include the evaluation of active labour market policies. He is currently involved in projects evaluating the impact of wage and hiring subsidies and studies shift and night work from different perspectives.
