Maria Zhu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Syracuse University. She earned a Ph.D. in economics from Duke University in 2019 and a bachelor’s degree in economics and mathematics from Pomona College in 2013. Her research interests are in labor economics and the economics of education. One strand of her work examines racial inequalities in education and the labor market, and another strand focuses on the role of peer networks on job finding and other labor market outcomes.
Maria joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in May 2023.
