Riccardo Rovelli is a Professor of Economics at the Università di Bologna, where he teaches Economics of the European Union.

His research interests include:

经济和政治l economy of the transition,
Determinants of macroeconomic divergence in the EU,
Monetary and fiscal policy rules and institutions,
Labor market institutions and macro outcomes.

His current research explores the theoretical and empirical links between the convergence failures in the EU and in the euro area and the institutional features of the EU and the member countries.

He has published articles in the European Economic Review, European Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Common Market Studies, Journal of Macroeconomics, Journal of Money Credit and Banking, and in the IZA World of Labor.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in August 2004.
